Royal De Luxe – creator of the ‘Giants’ – has visited Liverpool three times in the decade since its Capital of Culture status in 2008. The first two events brought a combined 1,800,000 people to the city’s streets, alongside £78 million to the local economy. 800,000 visitors were expected over four October days of the 2018 showpiece, and Paramount has worked on all three events, alongside the city council’s culture team.
Paramount delivered all the traffic management stewarding requirements for Culture Liverpool during the Giants Spectacular event in October 2018. Providing stewards in both Liverpool and Wirral over 4 days to assist in delivering an extensive and complex traffic management plan. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and flexibility on such a large scale event was second to none and greatly assisted with the safety and overall enjoyment for all who were lucky enough to attend the event.
The numerous events across the city and Wirral included moving processions with the Giants roaming the streets, and static events beyond the city centre relating to different elements of the story. Paramount worked alongside a team from Liverpool City Council to provide stewarding across the event’s numerous routes and stages, including managing traffic stewarding, and using our extensive expertise to provide local knowledge and common-sense crowd management which allowed the long weekend to proceed without a hitch.
We also provided overnight security on numerous sites across the city region that were performance areas for the unfolding street theatre. We pride ourselves that 97% of all deliveries got through, brides, grooms and guests were able to reach 43 weddings and every Isle of Man ferry left on time during the event.
